Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is deregulation?
In the past, natural gas and electricity were supplied and delivered to you by your utility company, only. The energy industry was deregulated in the late 1990s to give you the power to choose an energy supplier other than the utility. Prior to deregulation you had no ability to choose where you got your energy from or what kind of pricing plan you wanted. Now with deregulation you get to choose what company you want to buy your energy from. The utility still continues to ensure the delivery, maintain the lines and wires, read your meter and respond to any emergencies. -
